About Jajpur District:

Jajpur District was formed by 'Jajati keshari',the Somavanshi king is early 10th century. The District takes its name from its head quarter town, Jajpur.

The History of the Jajpur District from time immemorial is syninymous with the Biraja and Biraja khetra. The Jajpur District came into bring on 1st  April 1993.prior to that it was part of cuttack District which is divided into 4 District.

The District is bounded by Keonjhar and Bhadrak District on its North, cuttack on its south, Dhenkanal  District on it's East and Kendrapada District on it's West.

The Jajapur District located in between  20  degree 30' to 21 degree 10' North latitued  and 85 degree 40' to 86 degree 44' East longitude. The district covering an area of 2887.69 sq  km is moderatly populated having total population of 18,26,275 as per 2011 census.

As perthe adminstration is concered the jajpur District  has got one sub division namely Jajpur.
There  are 10 Tahsils, 10 Blocks, 311 G,Ps, 1781 village and 18 police  station functioning in the District.

The Climate of Jajpur District is normal as per Indian standard.

Economy of the District is agrarian in nature.Agriculture and mining play   dominant role in the economy of the District. In recent years, jajpur District has taken major strides in inderstrial devlopment.The most devloped area of the District, Kalinga Nagar, is situated inDanagadi Block, whwre currently 4 small stell plant are operating and 9 more are on their way  to start praduction. Big plants like Mesco, Neelachal Ispat , https://eknayisochpyarki.blogspot.com/, Tata Stell, Brahmani Rever pellets limited and Jindal have set up their operation here. Daitari mines are famous for the mining  extract, which  the state export to the outside world , thereby gaining substantial.


The literacy rate of the the Jajpur District is 80.44 percent. The District is Proud of its many educational institute, many of which have produced eminet scholars over the years. B.B. High School, Dasarathpur High School, N.C. collage, V.N. Collage, Biraja Womens Collage, Biraja Law Collage, B.S. Collage, Sukinda Collage, and A.P.Collage are some of the major educational institute thriving on the principal of imparting quality education.

Jajpur Tourist Place

1. Chandihol Chandi Temple

Chandikhol is a town in Jajpur district , Odisha, India. The place has been  named  afterGoddess  Chandi worshiped by late monk   Baba Bhairabananda  Bramhachari who established the deity of maa Chandi  in one of the adjoining  hills    of Barunei full of dense forest and ferrocious animals in 1932. The accomandation facility can be    availed   at Chandikhol and Cuttack by  hiring  Hotels and Lodge. For financial purpose, the nearrest bank located to this tourist  place  is S.B.I and few  nationalize banks which are located at  chandikhol.The commom language  spoken in the area  are Odia, Hindi, English.

2. Ashokjhar Waterfall

Ashokjhar Waterfall is a tourist place situated in Sukinda Block. It is about 8 km from Block  Head Quater. Nearest Railway Station  is sukinda  Road. Nearest Air Port Bhubaneswar 100 km from Sukinda.

3. Ratnagiri

Archaeological museum at  Ratnagiri is one of the Important site museum of Arcaeological Survey of India, built on the northern crest of the Ratnagiri village, of District Jajpur in Odisha.

4. Biraja Khetra

Biraja Temple or Viraja Kshetra, is one of the ancient Hindu  Temple located in the Jajpur District of Odisha, India.The present Temple was bulit in 13th century. it is situated in the Jajpur township which is nearly 125 km north from Bhubaneswar.
The mail idol is Devi  Durga who is worshipd bythe name Viraja. The I dol is having two hands, in one hand she pirces the chest of Mahisasura with  spear and in other hand she pulls the tail of the Mahisasura.
The Durga Idol is standing  on Lion in one leg and other leg is on Mahisasura chest. The Mahisasura is depicted as a buffalo, not as regular human demon.

The crown of Devi  has  symbol of Ganesh, Crescent moon and a Shivalinga. The Temple cover a large area, and it has several Shiva linga  and other deities. Jajpur is also known as Viraja  Kshetra or  Biraja  peetha.

5. Chhatia Bata or Chhatia Jagannath Temple

Chhatia Bata or Chhatia Jagannath Temple  is a temple situated  at chhatia village, Jajpur district of Odisha, India. It is devoted to Lord Jagannath and associated with Kalki, avatar of Lord Vishnu.

Maalika say's Chhatia Bata is puri Temple of  Cuttack, Hadidas mention this Temple in the saga Maalika, predicting that"on a day when all living animal's and human will die and Fish will  play at the step's of puri temple".

6. Olasuni Gumpha

The world Famous "Olasuni Gumpha " the sacred seat of perfection and the Mahasamadhi Temple of Santha Arakshita Das is situated on hillock named "Olasuni pahada" beside  the left bank  of the on flowing river Gomati called as Gobari, and very adjacent to the N.H-5-A leading to paradeep in the divided Jajpur district of  Odisha
